For Lauren's birthday Ann got her a donut pan!!!!!!!!!!! Lauren has been searching for a donut pan for 6 months at EVERY store we've gone to!

So cute! Mwahahahahahah!
Lots of cooking has been going on. Does anyone have the perfect baked donut recipe? Or food processor recipes to share?

Zach and Lauren have been doing their home owner duties by keeping up with yard work and staring at their vegetable garden willing zucchini to grow. Today we made out like bandits at the library with cookbooks, landscaping books, and books for Lauren's Musical Theater camp.

Hope everyone enjoyed the gorgeous weather today!

Whoopie!!!!!

I was given the task the other week to make a gluten free and egg free dessert for a company BBQ. Whew!
glutenfreegirl.com to the rescue!!!! Her recipe for Oreos (using flaxseed in lieu of egg) worked out great!

I didn't use her flour suggestions but I used her other all purpose flour recipe.

Spring!!!

Its been a while I know :)

But we have lots to share! Our garden is doing very well we have loads of spinach for Lauren's Green Monster addiction (greenmonstermovement.com).

Finding out what has been planted in out yard has been quite exciting. Each week there is a new surprise. We are novices and have to wait to see if they are weeds or flowers :)

We are fairly certain the song is "All around the mulberry BUSH" but it appears we have TWO mulberry TREES! The birds love them and our feet are purple.

Settling In!!!

Hi all!

We got drapes!!!! They are insulated and keep the light out and the heat in!!!!

Also we bought furniture for the bedroom using our Christmas gift money from Zach's parents! We saw 2 sets we really liked at another store but Marlo had a set we could both agree on!

We also bought a trainer for our bicycle which has allowed us to ride in the house during the winter. The trainer came with a DVD which is really fun! Lauren tried to match the pace of the professional cyclist and thinks her heart will explode!!!

Zach is buying Lauren Gluten Free flours for Valentine's Day so expect to see more posts about our new adventures in baking!!!!

Home improvements!!!

Happy New Year all!!!!

Over the last week we began some home improvements!

First I had to get rid of the stencil on the mantle piece ASAP. So I stripped, primed, and painted it Silver!!!

The other task we did was the paint the pink pink pink room a nice beige/cream color. It needed several coats but it makes the room look much bigger than it is. It was Zach's first time at painting and I think we learned a lot.

Not sure what the next tasks are but I am keen on removing the shocking amount of brass in the house as soon as possible :)

Hope all is well!!!

Chincoteague and kittens!

Hi all!!!

Last weekend we saw "The Sound of Music" at Wolf Trap. We met our friends Ann and Eric there and had a picnic dinner whilst we watched the show. The musical is extremely different from the film! The girl who played Maria was horrible, but everyone else was okay. It was a beautiful night, but very chilly.

The next day we drove to Chincoteague Island for a little getaway. The beach area is a National Park but bikes get in free. We drove to the beach and laid out for most of the remaining weekend. We were able to park on the beach itself, and use our bikes for the rest of our transportation. There was also delicious ice cream and steamed seafood! No ponies, which the island is known for, were sighted as it was late in the season for them. :( However, this was not true for the mosquitoes (who liked Lauren the most!)

No one wanted to come home. It was very relaxing!

This weekend we were fighting off colds, and laid low. We went to the pet shop to look for a kitten for Zach, but none of the animals spoke to him :( It will happen though hopefully by the end of the week.

Zach received his security clearances this past week which is very exciting! Zach also found a blueray version of the BBC's Pride and Prejudice and the colors are incredible! We had no idea how washed out the colors are on the DVD!!!

The weather has turned chilly which has made Zach quite happy and Lauren furious.

No one is really looking forward to the coming week but surely something fun will come our way!
